My name is Robert Adkonis and I have been running our family farm in Poland since 1971. Since starting with just 12 hectares almost 50 years ago, I now manage the operations which span across 1300 hectares with my three sons’ support as I head towards retirement.

50th Anniversary

Everyone within the business has the same position, which is to manage the operations as successfully as possible. We are predominantly arable and poultry farmers here, producing eggs from our laying hens but also produce fodder ourselves and cultivate grain and maize.

Next year we will celebrate our 50th Anniversary of operating the farm which is a huge milestone. During that time we have been awarded the title of the best farm in the country, as well as being ranked first place in the ‘300 best Agricultural Enterprises’ in 2011 which is a fantastic achievement.

70% of our crops are maize, legumes and triticale. Soils in this area are poor so we mainly focus on growing maize which is used to feed the livestock. As well as laying hens, we have around 200 cattle which benefit from this as feed. Egg production is around 10 mln pieces a month from all the egg farms.

‘‘along with my brothers and my father we run the farm. We recently purchased an Agrifac Condor V to aid with operations on the farm as we plan to spray between 5000 to 8000 hectares a year, therefore a self-propelled sprayer was the best option for us. ’’

The reason for buying this sprayer was that it has an ability to raise the suspension up to 2 meters and to also give the ability to change the track width in the range of 205 to 280 cm while driving. Our machine has been equipped with the Agrifac HTA system that aerates the liquid, so we can limit the amount of liquid and chemicals used therefore reducing our costs.

Sprayer with many advantages

An additional advantage of the HTA system is an ability to easily and quickly customize the sprayer to different crops and changing weather conditions. With this investment we plan to start growing rapeseed to improve the profitability of the farm. The sprayer has many advantages that we can illustrate best when the machine is operating on the farm. We are pleased to have bought a professional machine from an experienced manufacturer like Agrifac.
