Drift Reduction Spraying

Spray in all conditions with Agrifac's drift reduction technology

Drift Reducing Technology

Spraying should be as efficient and safe as possible. During spraying, drift is undesirable. Losses have to be reduced to get as much as possible of the sprayed chemical on target. The entry of active ingredients into for example surface waters and fringe structures must be avoided. Drift can be effectively reduced by using low-drift nozzles and drift reducing technology.

Nozzle and spraying pressure basically determine the droplet size. Small droplets are strongly affected by windward drift than big droplets. Different characteristics of equipment can enhance or reduce drift.

Agrifac offers all available drift reducing technologies which are approved by the Dutch law:

Lowered sprayboom, 25 cm nozzle distance

It is possible to spray closer to the tip of the crop or bare soil with a crop sprayer with a distance between the nozzles of 25 cm. Spray boom lowering has a positive effect on drift reduction, because the wind has less influence on the drift of the spray liquid due to the shorter path the spray liquid travels down to its desired target.

Wing

The Wing is a system that is attached to the boom of a field sprayer. The wings are fitted over the full width of the spray boom. The working is based on blocking and guiding the wind. The Wings guide the airflow downwards with drift-sensitive spray drops. When the opened crop bounces back, the leaves stop the drift-sensitive spray drops from being blown away.

Agrifac Wing

Wave

This system consists of plastic plates (screens), which are attached to the spray boom over the entire width. Behind the screens is the spray line, on which the nozzles are mounted at a distance of 25 cm. The height and angle of the nozzles are adjustable in relation to the screen. The screens block the air flow in the immediate vicinity of the nozzles, creating a shielded wind barrier. In this shelter, the spray liquid moves with a minimal influence of the wind to / into the crop or bare soil.

MagGrow

The MagGrow system is a patented and ISO-certified technique that uses permanent earth magnets. The magnets are placed on the sprayer and (semi-) continuously expose the liquid to strong static non-uniform magnetic fields, which changes the liquid properties. The MagGrow system cannot be turned off.

AirFlowPlus – Air support system.

Condor Endurance with AirFlowPlus

The air is distributed evenly downwards over the entire width of the spray boom at high speed and volume by means of a distribution system near (behind) the nozzles. The air transports the spray liquid (the droplets) to the crop or untreated land or, by means of a venturi effect, ensures that all droplets are sucked downwards and end up in the crop or on the soil. The settings of the air assistance (speed and direction) is such that the spray liquid is directed towards or into the crop and that the droplets are prevented from reflecting.

HighTechAirPlus

HighTechAir (HTA)

This concerns a spraying technique consisting of a field sprayer with HTA DriftControlPlus and lowered spray boom, with which it is possible to choose from drift reduction classes. Within each chosen drift reduction class it is possible to vary the application rate or to adapt the application to a changed driving speed, while maintaining the chosen drift reduction class. Use is made of air-liquid mixing nozzles of the type Agrifac HTA 10/39-TKSS4 in combination with the controller EcoTronicPlus. The controller continuously ensures that the ratio between the air pressure and the liquid pressure is set so that the selected drift reduction does not change. This is automatically controlled by the controller. The driver can only set the drift reduction class. This drift reduction class is set on the screen of the EcoTronicPlus system.

More innovative solutions for Sustainable Farming

Agrifac AiCPlus

Camera Spraying

There are smart spraying technologies available that work on identifying green material on brown through cameras. This technology allows farmers to only spray where there is a weed.

AirFlowPlus

Air Assisted Spraying

Air-assisted boom sprayers are developed for a number of reasons. Air-assisted spraying opens the crop canopy, exposes all foliar surfaces, carries small droplets to the target, improving coverage and reducing drift.

Agrifac VertiPlus

Vertical Spraying

A vertical spray boom can be the answer for tall crops such as asparagus, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. A vertical spray boom ensures an optimal crop penetration. The positions of the nozzles can easily be adapted to the height of the crop and can be shut off by nozzle.
