Job description

Reporting to the Product Manager, the Product Engineer identifies the needs of the Australian agricultural market in precision agriculture and precision spraying. You act as EXXACT Robotics’ representative and subject‑matter expert in the region, working closely with growers, industry bodies, Group brands and internal R&D teams. Your role is to translate on‑farm needs into clear technical requirements and deliverables that guide product development.

Key responsibilities

Market Analysis & Precision Ag Insights

  • Develop a strong understanding of local farming systems, crops, regulations and operational constraints.
  • Monitor competitive technologies (spot‑spraying, smart‑weeding, emerging agtech).
  • Analyse trends and adoption patterns in Australian precision agriculture.

Spot-Spray Needs Assessment

  • Engage with growers, agronomists, industry organisations and research bodies.
  • Attend field days, demonstrations and industry events.
  • Document real‑world spot‑spray use cases.
  • Assess agronomic and economic value of proposed solutions.
  • Establish and manage R&D study partnerships.

Product / R&D Interface

  • Provide regular reporting and updates.
  • Translate field insights into clear functional specifications.
  • Prioritize product improvements based on customer value and business impact.
  • Contribute to the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and R&D teams based in France.
  • Participate in testing and validation of new features or models.

Field Monitoring & Reporting

  • Conduct regular on‑farm visits.
  • Observe real‑world product usage.
  • Run performance evaluation trials.
  • Collect qualitative and quantitative user feedback.
  • Identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Serve as the local technical contact point for EXXACT Robotics.

Deployment Support

  • Support local sales and technical teams.
  • Participate in demonstrations and field days.
  • Train key stakeholders.

What you bring

Education

  • Degree in Agricultural Engineering (or equivalent).

Experience (5+ years)

  • Agricultural machinery.
  • Applied agronomy.
  • Product development within the agricultural sector.

Core Skills

  • Strong understanding of agricultural production systems.
  • Knowledge of agricultural machinery technologies.
  • Ability to conduct user interviews and assess needs.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.

Onboarding

A 4‑ to 6‑month onboarding programme will take place at EXXACT Robotics in France, potentially delivered in several sessions during the first year.
