HARDI UK welcomes new Northern Territory Manager

Monday 29 January, 2024

HARDI UK, leading crop sprayer manufacturers since 1957, is pleased to announce the appointment of Martyn Sleight as the new Northern Territory Manager. Supporting the Northern-based HARDI dealer network, Martyn will not only fulfil sales support for all dealers within his remit but will also contribute heavily to the future development strategy of the brand within his operational area.

Born and raised in Lincolnshire, Martyn brings a wealth of experience and deep-rooted passion for the agricultural industry to his role. Commenting on his experience, Martyn explained: “My journey into farming began in the 1990’s when I embarked on a Grandad’s apprenticeship to immerse myself in agricultural skills from a young age. Although the industry was facing challenges during this period, my resilience led me to joining a John Deere dealer as an apprentice service engineer shortly after, which allowed me to become more involved in agriculture without facing the direct hardships farmers were battling.”

After completing his three-year apprenticeship and serving as a full-time engineer for a decade, Martyn sought change and joined an agricultural crop spraying contracting in Lincolnshire, successfully managing the spraying operations of over 45,000 hectares over the next five years. Gaining expertise on a diverse range of crops, his versatility in turning his hand and excelling in an alternative farm management role caught the attention of his local AGCO dealer, leading to his appointment as a service engineer, before progressing to Workshop supervisor for the major brand cooperation.

With his solid background and proven passion for the industry, Martyn has propelled through his first few months of his new role at HARDI UK. Talking about his time at HARDI so far, Martyn commented: “I’m proactively working closely with dealers and customers to optimize machine performance, from sales to technical support, whilst also focussing on the future strategy for the dealer network with the aim of enhancing and further developing our dealers. I believe that ensuring consistent and thorough communication from factory to end-user is the key to driving spraying excellence and achieving new heights for the market-leading brand.”

Beyond his professional endeavours, Martyn, together with his partner and children, manages a smallholding of 20 hectares, focussing on growing cereals while also raising and dealing in pedigree sheep. This hands-on involvement in farming further enhances Martyn’s understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by HARDI’s customers.

HARDI UK is confident that Martyn’s extensive experience, coupled with his dedication to the agricultural sector, will contribute significantly to the company’s success in the Northern Territory. The team looks forward to achieving new heights in co-operation with Martyn.
