The Field Service Technician plays a critical role in the performance, reliability and customer satisfaction of Agrifac Australia’s self‑propelled sprayer range. This position provides frontline technical support to customers, delivering high‑quality field service, routine maintenance, breakdown repairs, machine commissioning and product improvement programs.

Working both autonomously in the field and collaboratively with the wider service team, the Field Service Technician ensures machines operate safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime, while upholding Agrifac Australia’s reputation for innovation, quality and customer care.

Job description

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining Agrifac self‑propelled sprayers both onsite at customer locations and within workshop environments. This is a hands‑on, technically varied role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving skills and a customer‑first mindset.  Travel to regional and remote locations is a regular component of the position. Applicants from light vehicle, heavy vehicle, diesel fitting, mobile plant, auto electrical or agricultural machinery backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.  Skills transfer is welcome, with full product‑specific training provided.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete onsite repairs and scheduled servicing of Agrifac self‑propelled sprayers.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
  • Perform routine maintenance and product upgrades.
  • Respond to breakdowns and provide effective troubleshooting in the field.
  • Complete service documentation, reports and compliance records accurately.
  • Deliver professional customer service and build strong client relationships.
  • Liaise with customers to meet deadlines and expectations.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workmanship.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Trade qualification or relevant industry experience in Heavy or Light Vehicle Mechanics, Mobile Plant, Diesel Fitting / Fitter & Turner, Auto Electrical, Boilermaking, Agricultural Equipment (or similar).
  • Experience in maintenance, field service or machinery repair.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude across electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Australian driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage your own time and work remotely.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Willingness to learn, innovate and support your team.

Desirable

  • Experience with heavy equipment, earthmoving, telehandlers, forklifts or mobile plant.
  • Forklift licence, confined space entry, working at heights.
  • Exposure to commissioning or systems integration.
  • Ability to travel nationally or internationally if required.
